A Collective Vision for Metro Manila

The “Clean Philippines” program aims to improve waste management in urban areas and reduce plastic waste ending up in landfills.

It envisions a cleaner Metro Manila, made possible through collaboration between MMDA, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), local government units (LGUs), and stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.

Recycling is a key component of this effort, along with turning reusable materials into products that support sustainability.

The World Bank extended its full backing to the program, describing it as an important step toward addressing environmental challenges.

The organization also expressed its willingness to partner with MMDA in future projects under the agency’s “Road to Zero Waste” program.

This partnership is expected to encourage practices that promote sustainable resource use and reduce waste.
