The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has officially begun accepting applications for special permits for public utility vehicles (PUVs) in anticipation of the expected surge of commuters this holiday season.
These special permits will be valid from December 20, 2024, to January 4, 2025, allowing additional vehicles to cater to the growing number of passengers.
Guadiz emphasized the importance of planning trips ahead, as the high demand for transport services during the holidays can lead to longer waiting times and congestion. Commuters are encouraged to schedule their travels early to avoid unnecessary delays and ensure a more comfortable journey.
He also stressed the need for vigilance and responsibility on the part of both commuters and public transport operators. “Please support legitimate public transportation services, follow safety guidelines, and report any violations such as overcharging or overloading through our official hotlines and channels,” Guadiz urged.
The LTFRB is working closely with transport operators, local authorities, and traffic enforcers to address the anticipated surge in passengers and maintain a safe and smooth flow of traffic. This collaborative effort is designed to minimize potential disruptions and maximize the availability of transportation services.
Commuters are advised to stay informed and remain proactive in their travel plans. The LTFRB is committed to providing the public with safe and reliable transport options during this busy time of year.
