Free Driving Course, Registration Caravan in Occidental Mindoro

Occidental Mindoro welcomed a remarkable effort to improve road safety and promote responsible driving.

The Road Safety Advocacy Program, led by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO), brought free driving courses and accessible vehicle registration services to the communities of Looc and Lubang.

This program, championed by DOTr Secretary Jaime J. Bautista and Assistant Secretary Jose “Tracker” Lim IV, focused on empowering residents through education and streamlined services.

One of the highlights was the 15-hour Theoretical Driving Course (TDC), which provided participants with a strong foundation in land transportation laws, safe driving techniques, and respectful road behavior.

“This program has been a game-changer for us new drivers. The lessons were practical, easy to understand, and truly helpful,” shared one participant.

In addition to the training, the program simplified the process of securing a student driver’s permit, making it more accessible for residents to comply with driving requirements.

Making Vehicle Registration More Accessible

The program also featured a Motor Vehicle Registration Caravan, which allowed residents to renew their vehicle registrations and handle other related services without the inconvenience of traveling far.

This service provided convenience and saved valuable time, encouraging more vehicle owners to keep their documentation updated.

Local officials and residents expressed their gratitude for this mobile service.

“The caravan shows how services can be brought closer to the people. It’s a big help in promoting road safety and proper documentation,” said a local leader.

Building Safer Communities

The combination of free education and easy access to government services made the program a resounding success.

Residents commended the LTO San Jose District Office for its dedication to making road safety education and services more inclusive and reachable.

With the DOTr and LTO continuing to roll out similar efforts, Occidental Mindoro sets an example of how community-focused programs can inspire responsible driving habits and safer roads.

This program reflects the power of accessibility and collaboration, proving that safer communities begin with informed and supported citizens.
