Baguio Launches Traffic App for Real-Time Road Updates

Baguio City is taking a major step toward addressing its traffic congestion issues with the launch of BCPOView Baguio, a real-time traffic monitoring application. The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) officially introduced the app on February 17, 2025, aiming to provide commuters with live updates on road conditions, parking availability, and tourist activity levels.

BCPO Chief Col. Ruel Tagel spearheaded the initiative, emphasizing that the app is designed to help the public make informed travel decisions. “The goal is to educate the public and influence their choices—whether to continue their trip, take alternate routes, or use public transportation,” Tagel stated.

Key Features of BCPOView Baguio

The BCPOView Baguio app is a free-to-use tool that enables users to:

  • Monitor live traffic updates in the Central Business District (CBD).
  • Check available parking spaces to reduce unnecessary road congestion.
  • View estimated visitor counts in key tourist areas.
  • Access travel advisories, ordinances, and hotline numbers for quick assistance.

“Looking for parking significantly contributes to congestion,” Tagel explained. “By allowing users to check space availability beforehand, we can ease traffic flow.”

The app was developed in-house by BCPO’s tech-savvy personnel, ensuring that it meets the city’s unique needs. Currently, the Android-compatible app prioritizes accessibility for the general public, with an iOS version in development.

Col. Tagel noted that the app aligns with his five-point agenda, which includes traffic management, crime prevention, disaster preparedness, and environmental protection. “This app is a work in progress, and we will continue refining it to better serve residents and tourists,” he added.

How to Download and Use the App

BCPOView Baguio can be accessed by scanning a QR code available on the official Baguio City Police Office Facebook page. It is also available for free download on Google Play Store.

“With Maginhawa at Ligtas na Paglalakbay (Safe and Convenient Travel) as our goal, this app ensures everyone can plan their trips efficiently,” said Mary Grace Maron, BCPO’s information officer.

Long-Term Impact

The launch of BCPOView Baguio marks a significant step in modernizing Baguio’s traffic management. By equipping commuters with real-time data, the app aims to reduce road congestion, enhance travel efficiency, and improve overall city mobility.

With continuous updates and community feedback, BCPOView Baguio is set to become an essential tool for residents and visitors navigating the Summer Capital of the Philippines.
